Lord Ayyappa Astride a Tiger, on the Path, Kerala. Lord Ayyappa viewed riding a tiger in the forest. The association of Ayyappa with the forest is an important connection as there is increasing pressure on the natural habitats surrounding Sabarimala. The seemingly exponential increases so pilgrim traffic to Sabarimala has put immense pressure on the forests that Lord Ayyappa retreated to. (December 2001)
